Forced to Move to Another Town to Seek Care

From the BBC, January 1, 2008:

Dawn Edmonds and her husband Dave moved to Shropshire to access better care.

Mrs Edmonds claimed services were not available to her husband at their previous home because he is under 65.

Mrs Edmonds said: “I decided to play the post code lottery and I think I won by moving to Shropshire.”

“In Shrewsbury, there is a dedicated service, headed by a consultant and a team of people, with a respite and assessment unit.

“This doesn’t exist in the majority of local authorities - these sort of services are very rare.”
